There will be work that requires completion each evening and will be set by the instructor at the end of each day.
During this course, candidates will learn about the M_o_R framework and how to implement it into their workplace. Delegates will realise their full potential getting involved in the M_o_R training environment and recognise how to make changes and decisions in regards to strategic, programme, operational and project sectors.
M_o_R is a best practice guideline framework by Axelos (a best practice provider with UK government affiliation) which assesses risk in some major areas of business. These areas of business include strategy, programming, projects and operations. M_o_R links easily with other management styles such as program and project management while maintaining the original methods and terminologies.
There are no qualifications or experiences required prior to attending this course. As soon as the course is confirmed, the pre-course work is issued to the delegate. This work consists of reading the first four chapters of the provided manual; ‘Management of Risk: Guidance for Practitioners’, a set of pre-course questions and a further thirty multiple choice questions to be completed by the delegate before the course begins. This work should take approximately eight hours to complete.

They are assessed vigorously and regularly by BCS to ensure that they remain in line with the strict standards set by them so our course remains accredited. They are based on the 2011 edition of ‘Management of Risk: Guidance for Practitioners’, which the exam is also based on.
The trainers involved in delivering the course have over ten of years of experience and have vast amounts of expertise in the field. They are also assessed to ensure that their knowledge of risk management and M_o_R is at a consistently high standard to provide the best chance of success for delegates.
Course Structure & Content
M_o_R® Foundation & Practitioner is an intensive five day course which also includes the required exams. The first three days will be dedicated to preparing for and taking the Foundation exam. The last two days will be dedicated to the Practitioner exam, which will be taken on the final day.
The Foundation exam takes place on the third day of the course and lasts for one hour, consisting of 75 multiple choice questions including five practice questions. The pass mark is at 50% and delegates are not permitted to bring any manuals or books into the exam. Passing this exam ensures candidates understand how to use the M_o_R framework and can act as a valuable member of a risk management team.
The Practitioner exam takes place on the last day of the course, lasts for three hours and consists of 4 objective-testing questions, worth twenty marks each. This exam is an open book test so delegates are welcome to bring their manuals into the exam with them. The pass mark is at 50%. If the delegates pass this exam, they can practically apply M_o_R frameworks to their workplace.

The Rehabilitation Hospital in Saudi Arabia implemented M_o_R in their hospital to create risk policies and became one of the first hospitals outside of America to receive accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
During 2008, the hospital decided to go for the CARF accreditation to showcase to patients and stakeholders that it meets the highest care and quality standards. To achieve this, they had to create risk management policies from scratch.
The hospital worked together with a consultancy organisation to implement M_o_R. Utilising the M_o_R framework, the hospital were able to categorise risks into categories of processes, organisation, policies and strategies. Risks were then rated according to how much impact they could have. This is done in each department and then put onto a ‘risk register’ so the biggest risks in the whole hospital could be managed accordingly.
M_o_R has provided the hospital with higher standards of care, safety and patient satisfaction. Using the P3M3 portfolio management assessment framework, it confirmed that the hospital had reached level 3 in risk management which is higher than any other organisation assessed in risk. The risk policy rollout was so successful that there are plans to implement it all throughout the Fahad Medical City in Saudi Arabia.
